Aight, what's good: IM TRYIN TO GET MY MAC TO RECOGNIZE MY KEYBOARD TO USE AS A CONTROLLER IN PROTOOLS LE 7.3 (MBOX 2 MINI). IT DOES NOT HAVE MIDI IN OR MIDI OUT IN DA BACK SO I CONNECT STRAIGHT TO THE MAC THRU USB. SO MY AUDIO MIDI (AMS) IS NOT RECOGNIZING THE CASIO. I WAS TOLD I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD THE DRIVER FROM CASIO.COM, DID SO, AND TURNS OUT THE FILE IS A.EXE., WHICH AS FAR AS I UNDERSTAND IS A MICROSOFT DOS FILE) I BRAND NEW ON MY MAC SO IM NOT SURE IF THERE IS A METHOD OR SOFTWARE U COULD USE TO EXTRACT DA FILE AS U WOULD IN WINDOWS.

If still having problems, did you navigate to Device Manager, locate any device with an '!' , double click it, click the driver tab and UPDATE DRIVER? 00 and MIDI Time. Out Install USB Driver from Casio CD, Connect the USB cable to the keyboard and the other end to the computer, Turn the keyboard ON.

IS THERE ONE? I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO TO ACCOMPLISH THIS? THANKS FOR ANY HELP OR INPUT.

SIZE='1'COLOR='DarkOrange'FONT='Microsoft Sans Serif'I communicate with clarity and directness. I simply give my Iinformed /Iopinion or post Iaccurate /Iinformation in as straight forward a manner as possible. The vast majority of the time you can count on anything I write as being authoritative. If you feel insulted by something I post. Check carefully to see if what I wrote is Itrue/I. I'll try to be kind, but if the choice is between 'nice' and 'truthful'.

The truth wins everytime./FONT/COLOR/SIZE. The manual is as clear as it possibly could be that only Windows PCs are supported.Heaven forbid that a guy who's new to the world of Macs might assume that it would be compatible, not having been able to read the manual before purchase, and might already be assuming the worst (that it won't be compatible) but is making a last ditch attempt to get it to work. He did know, for example that an.exe was a windows file.

He isn't stupid and he wasn't rude in his question, at the end of his post he even said. Well why not check out how he dug out something that I said a little while back, just because he couldn't get that last word in on the main thread. He tried to call me out on something based on nothing more than assumption and ended up looking a bit foolish. I had already dropped the subject but then he chose to initiate some sort of childish revenge on me. This was a good example of the typical attitude here though, and why its simply BS to pass it off as being because of lazy questions or bad attitudes on on the noobs part. I wish i'd found it whilst the main thread was opened, oh well I don't really give a damn about this subject now anyway.

OK i am lost with this one. I have a CASIO CTK-481 keyboard ive had for years and i just bought the Mbox MINI that came with pro tools a few days ago. Well the Mbox mini doesnt have MIDI inputs/outputs so i bought a separate M-Audio MIDI uno USB cable so i could hook up my CASIO and use it through Protools. I have followed the instructions in the getting started guide and the set up books for protools and i cant get my CASIO to work. I Know that the computer is reading something because when i play a note on the keyboard, the midi uno cable blinks for the midi input.

But i guess pro tools isn't reading it? And i get no sound from protools. I will provide answers if you have any questions. I am running HP Pavilion dv6000 Laptop Windows Vista Home Premium 2.5gb RAM 120gb HD 32-bit AMD Turion 64x2 TL-56 ^i dont know if you would need to know that but its there if you do^. Ive had this for probably 5 years. I got it off of my sister and i do not remember if it came with a disc. And if it did, it would be gone by now.

I'm pretty sure the m-audio UNO usb doesnt support Vista? But the website has a driver download and i downloaded that. Do i have to install it to a certain place for it to work? The driver installition cd that came with the midi cable said it did not support my OS. So i went to the website and installed the Vista driver. Ive done all i can and to my knowledge. I still dont know what the problem is?

Maybe im not setting it up right in Pro Tools? Im still brand new to it. Can someone go through the steps to set up a midi keyboard to protools? Ive read the getting started guide but maybe im missing something? Someone help! Have you gotten it to work with a different program? Try download Run it in DirectX and try to use your keyboard with that.

There might be an issue with the usb driver or something. So lemme get this straight, though.

You create a midi track, hit a note and see something is coming through, right? Then you create an instrument track and put a VI on one of the inserts (let's use Xpand), load up a preset (how about E-keyboardmark II), play a chord. Do you see anything when you record the instrument track? Sounds odd that it detects your midi notes on a midi track, but not an instrument track. Try recording it and see if it picks up any notes.
