MAC lipsticks are some of the best lipsticks out there. They’re definitely not my favourite, but I do really love them.

“So as far as I can tell, not only is there no official Tetris for Mac, there are no Tetris-like games either. Back in the 90s, there were several really good Tetris games for the Mac.

Throughout the years I’ve build quite a stash of MAC lipsticks, but this summer I figured it would be time to expand that collection a little bit. I ended up buying one of the Amplified Creme lipsticks from MAC in a shade called Craving. A shade that seemed to be the perfect colour for autumn. Today it’s time for the review.

If you’re interested in finding out whether or not Craving actually is the perfect autumn colour and whether it’s good or not, make sure to continue reading! The packagings of MAC lipsticks are all pretty much the same and in my opinion they do look really good. They’re shaped like a bullet and they are almost completely black with a little bit of shimmer mixed in them. In the lid it says MAC and when you open it up it also says MAC on the silvery part. The packaging itself feels really nice and sturdy and overall it’s just a good packaging. There’s not a lot more I can say about that to be honest!

MAC lipsticks come with a few different finishes. So far most of my MAC lipsticks are either cremesheens or lustres. I do like those finishes, but I was willing to try something new. This lipstick has an amplified creme finish. This means that it’s a very nice and creamy lipstick, it has a rich texture, it’s very pigmented and it’s longlasting. MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick in Craving – Moving on to the colour. Craving isn’t your usual nude colour.

Normally when I buy more expensive lipsticks I like to buy very wearable shades so I’m sure I’ll get enough wear out of it to justify the amount of money I spent on it, but because I already have so many nude lipsticks I wanted to try something else. Craving is a bit of a berry shade, but not as full on berry as some lipsticks can be.

For me this is a combination between a nude lipstick and a berry lipstick. It’s a little bit bright, but it’s not too extreme and out there. Autumn is coming up relatively soon and since that’s my favourite season I though this might be a nice colour to try. Because I’ve been trying to wear more daring shades for a couple of weeks now this isn’t something too extreme for me, but if you’re really not used to wearing anything but nude this might be a bit of a daring colour for you. Aside from the colour being really nice, the quality of the lipstick is great as well.

Like I mentioned before the Amplified Cream lipsticks from MAC are rich, creamy and very pigmented. This one is exactly like that. I have to say that this is probably one of my first Amplified Cream lipsticks or at least the first one I know is one, so I didn’t have much of an idea what it was going to be like.

Because of what I heard about it I did have high hopes when it comes to the texture of the lipstick and I have to say, I’m not disappointed at all. The lipstick really is creamy and rich, almost like butter. It glides on so easily and smoothly. By going over the lips once you’ve already got a full coverage lip colour. It’s easy as that. And aside from going on really smoothly it also feels very nice.

I can’t say it’s lightweight or that it feels like a thin lip balm, but it does feel very comfortable and nice, like it’s a bit hydrating or something like that. The only downside to this lipstick regarding the texture is that if you mess up, you’re going to have to struggle really hard in order to get it to look good again. I once applied this while sitting in a car (I wasn’t the one who was driving btw) and I accidentally went a little outside of my lip line and wanted to correct it using the only tool I had at that moment – my fingers, and boy that was a bad idea. I looked like a clown. Because it’s so smooth it does blend really easily, one light touch and your chin is bright pink. Of course the effect is quite big because it’s quite a bright colour, but that does really make it a lot more difficult to apply it. And also during the day when you accidentally touch it, you really have to make sure you don’t touch something else with that same finger or that area of your body will be red/pink as well.

When it comes to pigmentation I think this lipstick is a winner. I applied it pretty sparingly on the swatch, but if you put a normal amount of pressure on your hands while applying it – so not very light handed but also not heavy handed – you will get even more colour out of this lipstick. But overall I think it looks good on the pigmentation part. It has great pigmentation, the colour pay off is amazing since it only takes one swipe to get this look and that’s just very impressive. Good job MAC! When it comes to staying power I’m impressed but I do have mixed feelings. The thing is that this lipstick does stay in place literally all day, and if the creamy part is gone your lips will still be stained for a good couple of hours.

However, it is very transferable. So if you drink, eat, kiss, whatever, this lipstick will transfer onto that object or thing or human and not just a little bit. So after a while I actually hope it will finally fade so I can eat peacefully without worrying about the lipstick going everywhere. Of course that’s just a personal think, but the fact that it is this transferable is a big con in my opinion. Overall I’m really in love with the colour of the lipstick. It’s the perfect fresh autumn colour and I love wearing it, it turns every look into an autumnal look and it just adds something extra to your makeup look. The quality is incredible as well, the texture feels amazing, the colour pay off is great and it does stay in place all day.

The only down side, for me, is the fact that it does transfer very badly and that does annoy me a little. Aside from that I’m in love with this gorgeous looking lipstick! And that’s everything for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this lipstick and what lipstick is your favourite for autumn.

30 pounds of mac n' cheese? Oprah, say it isn't so!

Oprah Winfrey made headlines last week when she confessed to eating “about 30 pounds” of macaroni and cheese after the flop of her 1998 film, Beloved. She said she was so depressed, she went into a ‘massive, depressive macaroni and cheese-eating tailspin.’ I have always been a fan of Oprah’s. I admire her drive, intelligence, and her complete candor. We’ve all succumbed to food cravings at one point or another.

But not many would admit to a mac n’ cheese bender of this magnitude! “30 pounds” could well have been an exaggeration on her part but, just for fun, I did a rough calculation of the calorie and fat content of her mac n’ cheese attack. Based on my estimations (which could be higher or lower depending on the recipe), 30 pounds of traditionally-baked macaroni and cheese could cost you about 38,000 calories and 1,800 grams of fat. If you assume a standard intake of 2,000 calories per day, that’s about 19 days worth of food! A bad break up, stress at work, money problem, certain types of medication — anything and everything can cause a killer craving and/or food binge.

According to some research yearnings for partiular foods happen to most of us. A study published in the that found that food cravings are extremely common, with 97 percent of women and 68 percent of men reporting such episodes. Of course, you want to avoid mega-meals from becoming part of your regular routine. While there is no fail-proof way to stop all cravings (if there was, I’m sure Ms. Winfrey would be the first to have it!) there are some good tricks for busting a binge before it starts.

Craving

Distinguish genuine physical hunger from emotional or stress-triggered “hunger”. Physiological hunger means your body needs food.

“Feeling like eating” can be emotional or psychological. Before you start to eat, stop and ask yourself, “Am I really hungry?” Physiological hunger generally comes on slowly and may be accompanied by physical symptoms like a growling stomach. Physiological hunger goes away after you eat and does not reoccur until several hours later. Emotional or psychological hunger often has no relation to when you last ate, and may not go away after eating. It is usually triggered by an event, a feeling or emotion. Identify your triggers and plan ahead.

Be mindful of when and why you are eating. Many people use food as a distraction from uncomfortable feelings such as stress, boredom, depression and sadness. It is difficult to get a handle on a craving when you are in the middle of one. Plan ahead for times when you are most susceptible to cravings (nighttime, late afternoons, family occasions, stress).Think of things to do instead of eating at stressful times. Drink water, seltzer, teas, or other non-caloric beverages to quench thirst and help reduce the craving. Keep healthy snacks around the house or office for moments when you must eat something.

Often (though not always) a healthy, fiber and protein filled snack (apples topped with 2 tbsp peanut butter, for example) can keep you from indulging in a meal you will later regret. Please visit other parts of for other great healthy snack ideas. Lack of sleep can lead to cravings. Recent studies have suggested that not getting enough sleep may increase hunger and appetite. This is in part due to hormonal changes in the body.

What we really need to do is get more sleep. 7-8 hours per night has been shown to be optimal for most people. Brush and floss your teeth or pop in a strong mint or sugar-free gum. I can’t promise this will work every time, but it’s worth a try. A piece of hard candy can also do the trick.

Forgive, but don’t forget. If you give in to a craving, do not beat yourself up. This may lead to eating even more and feeling worse.

Use the moment as a learning tool to help you figure out when cravings are likely to strike, why it happened and what you can do differently the next time. I was interviewed on a local Detroit, MI talk show back in the 80’s when I was a member of Weight Watchers. The Area Director, Florine Mark took me along with her as an example of well the program worked and seated on the panel with us was Dick Gregory and one his “diet” students. Well, one of the things I had mentioned in the bio information they require for the host was that it was nothing for me to sit down and eat a 5 pound bag of potatoes freshly baked and slathered in butter in one sitting. Of course the answers I gave were in response to my stataement of being a “sneak eater” and while there were many other examples in my response still the host was simple aghast over the potato story. She never had a weight problem and couldn’t wrap her head around it. Long storyh a bit shorter (lol) it took me a long time to come to terms with my emotional eating and after several years of back and forth, up and down, I believe I understand it and have made tremendous strides.

NO more potatoes for me and I truly DO eat to live. Kellie Weinhold, RD, LD says. These are all really great tips for avoiding diving head-first into a craving-fueled binge!

Acknowledging that you DO get cravings, and then preparing for those cravings is vital. If you’re a chocolate-lover, instead of rushing to the vending machine for a candy bar, keep some sugar-free chocolate pudding on hand. If you are craving the salty/crunchy potato chips, bring some cut up fresh vegetables with some hummus so you can still get the satisfying crunch without all the empty calories of the chips. And of course, if you do find yourself binging just remember that you can always start over fresh and focus on preparing for next time.
